What You Would Do at MedAlert
As a Backend Engineer at MedAlert, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the core services and infrastructure that power our healthcare platform. You will work closely with frontend engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient backend systems. Your work will be crucial in ensuring the reliability and performance of our applications, enabling seamless interactions for healthcare providers and patients.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Node.js and Express.
- Build and optimize RESTful APIs for high availability and scalability.
- Work with PostgreSQL to manage data storage, ensuring data integrity and performance.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers to integrate APIs and services.
- Monitor and improve system performance, addressing issues proactively.
- Contribute to the development of microservices architecture.
- Participate in code reviews and uphold best practices in backend development.
Who We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in backend development, particularly with Node.js.
- Strong knowledge of Express, PostgreSQL, and RESTful API design.
- Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (e.g., Docker).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or DigitalOcean.
- Understanding of security best practices in backend development.
- Proficiency in version control systems, particularly Git.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
